How do you carry around these huge phones?

I had a Note 1 a while back, and that took a couple pairs of pants out of my wardrobe. Have an HTC One now, and I don't have any issues with it in my pocket.

I do see a ton of people with Otterbox defenders, using the holster to wear the phone.

I don't wear tight jeans bro. I am a 90's kid, my daily jeans are so baggy I can fit a Nexus 7 in my pockets.

I shudder to think what I could fit in my old Jnco skirt/jeans.

For those who keep the phone in their front pocket DOES it leave an imprint?

An imprint on what?

I carry my HTC One in right front pocket. Never use back pockets for anything, seem like a terrible way to even carry wallets.

My Note II fits just fine in regular Dockers pants (front pocket) which is what I am generally wearing throughout the day. If people notice a bulge in my pants they probably don't see it as anything out of the ordinary ... some might even see it as a compliment.

People who make comments about how they don't wear skinny jeans are incredibly disingenuous. I wear normal sized pants, and while sure, I could fit a Nexus 7 in my pocket if I wanted to make a point, it wouldn't be in any way comfortable and no sane person would.

If anyone misconstrues a bulge coming from side pocket as that, then they either must think it's misshapen or don't understand anatomy. 😀

The Nexus 7 isn't a huge phone, it's a small tablet, and I doubt anyone is fitting them comfortably or otherwise in anything except tactical or cargo pants/shorts.

Most smartphones you can fit in regular jeans pockets and definitely into normal fitting pants pockets, although some of the upcoming phablets like the Galaxy Mega, One Max, and Lumia 1520 certainly test the limits for jeans.

Well no, I wouldn't go dancing with the Nook Color in my pocket! But it does fit, lol.

I carry a Nexus 7 with a folio case in my back pants pocket. By "pants" I usually mean suit slacks or Dockers type pants. A Note II/III (a "big" phone) would be small compared to that. The Nexus doesn't fit in normal jeans pockets, but then I rarely wear those...

I love how every time someone makes a comment that flagship phones are too large to comfortably carry around for them that they're somehow choosing the wrong clothing or wearing their pants wrong or something. It's basically the "you're holding it wrong" argument that everyone loves to make fun of.

Maybe larger device makers should implement a program like the iPhone 4 bumper case.

"Lumia 1520! Now with two free pairs of straight leg pants redeemable via app after purchase!"

It's more like, "don't buy devices that you can't carry around". If I told you that you need a backpack or bag to carry around a laptop, you wouldn't think me stupid for saying so.

Same issue with the phablets. If you are wearing tight jeans and want to carry a phablet or tablet in your pockets, well, you are doing something wrong. Either wear pants with larger pockets or buy a smaller phone. There's nothing wrong with having larger phones, they just aren't for everyone.

If you are a woman and carry a small purse and complain the iPad can't fit in it, well that doesn't mean there isn't a place for the iPad in the market. Either get a larger purse or carry around a Mini or something else. That's just sensible.

I don't have or use a phone with a display larger than 4.7", but I'm not going to discourage the people who want 5.0" to 6.0"+.

Nowhere did I complain about the availability of large screen devices.

What are you complaining about then?
As far as I can see, there are few solutions to the "phones are too large to comfortably carry around" problem.

I was simply pointing out that every time someone mentions something, someone always comes in and says "Don't wear skinny jeans, lol!"

Your reply made it sound like I was trying to say that large screen devices shouldn't exist because some people didn't like them.

And thats not even really discussing the issue about smaller screened Android and Windows phone devices not being up to par with their larger screened siblings.

The reason that comment is so common is because there aren't exactly many other solutions for carrying around a large screen device, not until we get foldable/rollable displays. So saying that you "love how every time someone makes a comment...", won't stop anyone from making those comments - unless you have an alternative solution for people who want to carry around large smartphones in their pockets.

As I see it, the "don't wear skinny jeans" comment (though there is a bit of an assumption there) is roughly equal to saying "wear pants with bigger pockets" which, unfortunately, is actually the best solution for people who want to carry around big-ass phones in their pockets. Otherwise carry around a backpack, messenger bag, etc. Big technology requires big storage. 😀

That's my answer to the OP, too, unless the technology changes overnight and allows us to use scrolls instead of tablets/phablets. It's either fashion or phone size - something's got to give.

No, it's "If you want to carry a big phone in your pocket, don't wear skinny jeans. If you want to wear skinny jeans, get a smaller phone, or carry it somewhere other than your pants pocket."

WTF is with people talking about skinny jeans. I'm by no means skinny and I wear fitted jeans. I walked into a Diesel store once and I couldn't fit in any of their jeans. THOSE are skinny jeans. Wearing Gap slim fit or whatever is not the same as skinny, and even then it can be tricky with large phones.

You don't have to be a hipster for the phone to be too big. It's often pretty clear that I have a large phone in my pocket as I'm walking around. Heck in my khakis right now (Dockers D2 Straight Fit), you can see the phone imprint. It's not so much that the phone won't fit. It does fit, but it's noticeable pulling out my N4 versus my iPhone 5 which one is easier to pull out of your pocket when you're seated.

I wear normal, straight fit 34 or 36 Levi's, gap or other jeans and I have no issues with my S4 fitting with a UAG case. Never noticed an imprint. Most of the time I can't even tell it's there. Most of work friends have S4s and another a Droid DNA and I can't say I've ever noticed their phones.

Sorry if people take the skinny jeans comments the wrong way but it just seems odd to me that any average sized male would have issues fitting an S4 sized device in their pockets since it has never been an issue for me. It's not even a matter of it barely fitting, it fits with no issues. Maybe my pants just have large pockets?

Leaves a bruise, seriously? lol

I never had any issues with my Note, even when wearing shorts. Fit in my pockets of all my pants just fine without looking or feeling awkward. It was seriously never a concern whatsoever. Now that I have an S4, it's pretty much the same experience for me. I have a case on it, so it's noticeably bulkier than with no case, but again no concerns whatsoever about how it feels carrying it around.

I've used smaller phones like the iphone 4 and didn't find the experience particularly pleasant in terms of enjoying multimedia because of the size. It was fine for texting and whatever, but viewing content on a bigger screen is very nice.

No, the subtext behind the skinny jeans comment is that the person must be some sort of fashion victim/hipster. Not too surprising given that the stereotypical tech "enthusiast" isn't known for dressing well.

Everyone has different standards/tolerance for what looks acceptable. There is no way (for example) that I could carry a Nexus 7 in a suit jacket or trousers without looking ridiculous - as much because of the weight as the size. Someone wearing a suit bought 10 years ago (bigger shoulders, looser cut) might not care.

Lots of giggles and laughs in this thread. I use a neoprene pouch that hangs on my belt. Very comfortable, and very handy. Very safe. Have never dropped it.

I wear slacks at work. A GS4 slips into my pocket pretty easily.

Sold my Nexus and got an iPhone 5 because I hated the feeling of the Nexus in my jeans.

With the iPhone 5, I don't even feel it. I'll be sticking with Apple phones until Google can come up with something that's 4" and can actually compete with the iPhone.
