Yea women don't drive manual, so they simply never run into a situation like this.

For any that do, they'll either a) not wear heels, or b) have a pair of sandals or something in the car so that they can put those on while driving - and then put the heels back on once they've arrived at their destination.
*pffft* My GF not only drives manual, she auto-x's down at the track. She could probably drive circles around you in her '01 Impreza 2.5RS. And she would have no trouble doing so in heels. Like I already said, proper pedal work is not done with the heels.

Hmm.... she isn't a moderator of a certain forum is she?

Working the pedals is properly done with the toes and balls of the feet, not the heels, so high-heels should not matter. My GF never seems to have problems driving stick in heels.

That's right

Californian, Female, and I drive a manual. (6 Speed manual!) It's not that hard honestly to drive with heels on. But that's because they're not stilletto types. Now that, is a whole different story. I can barely walk on them let alone drive with them.

But yes, if the heels are difficult to drive with, I just use my toes :p

I don't think so.
edit:California:
Barefoot Driving: Operation of a motor vehicle by a driver with bare feet is not prohibited.

Howtf would anyone know if you're driving w/o shoes :Q

Unless you got a glass car or something. And if you've been pulled over already, it's probably gonna be for deeper sh!t than not wearing shoes.

My mum has a pair of driving shoes (heel-less shoes) that she always keep in the car, so no problemo.

My GF drives in heels no problem. As Koing said, 99% of woman in UK don't drive automatics.

Far fewer people get automatics over here really I should think, I mean, we have to steer the car over here aswell, so we might aswell be involved in the shifting process. Whereas US, just stick on cruise at 55, and go to sleep. Slackers ;)

I can shift in high heels. It's fun to dig the point of the heel into the floor and use that as a pivot. Good leverage that way.
