How do we feel about leather and wood steering wheels?

I've not driven a new car with a wood wheel. I'm a fan of the old ones though.

What old cars came with wheels like that from the factory? Aside from some old British cars wood steering wheels were mostly aftermarket weren't they?

Most American cars of the late 60s through the 1980s had cheap plastic steering wheels.
 
Alcantara supposedly returns to nearly good as new after cleaning. I'm probably going to get my wheel redone in Alcantara, although that Alc/leather split Merc wheel is a lot nicer.
