How do u use multi hard drives effectively?

I have been wanting to ask this for a while: How do people usually use a multi hard drive setup effectively. I have 2 barracudas and I was thinking of using one for the OS and applications while the other for data and games. Im not so sure if this is the best way to make the most of this setup. I have thought of RAID also, but then thats an entirely different discussion.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want speed, go for RAID. Otherwise, I'd use one for the OS and programs, the other for the rest.

I would say to use one drive for your OS and applications then use the second for data and backups. That way if your first drive fails you still have your data.

Put your faster performing HD as the boot-up/os HD. You can use a second HD as a storage area, to have a backup image (Ghost or Drive Image) of your important c:. You can also install other software on the second HD that you don;t need to have backuped, like games.
