Naruto, did your technique leave any swirl marks? or perhaps, uneven lapping of the glass?
 
Toluene will eat it off in less than 30 seconds...buy it at sherwin williams. Acetone is milder and will take a little longer. The edges I think will be very difficult unless you can find some PTFE (teflon) tape (one sided sticky) which is'nt usually locally available...try online.
