how do u know if your OC worked?

of so i oced and its stable..but how do i know that the performance is there? sometimes i feel like its no big diffrence going from 1.8 to 2.5 ghz

If you look at the bottom left where it states "Core Speed" this is the operating frequency of you processor.

So if it states 2500Mhz then that means you have hit your goal of 2.5Ghz.

Try Super Pi. That's a common one for getting CPU benchmarks. 3dmark also has some CPU tests.

Although if you mean that there isn't much of a difference in actual programs/games, I agree. UT2004 and the original Deus Ex exhibited major boosts going from 2ghz to 3ghz, but the difference wasn't noticeable at all in every other game I tried. The OC is worth it to me just for the huge performance increases in Mathematica and Dosbox, but does nothing for most newer games.

Are you kidding me I just told you where to look and what to look for and how to understand it. Its quite simple once you get passed the bunch of numbers bit lol. A bench mark will not tell you the operating frequency of your processor well the results won't anyway they will just indicate that there is some improvement.

May not be, depends on the use. If gaming (especially FPS games) the CPU OC may not show real-world improvements due a gfx card bottleneck.

Sissoft Sandra come with a CPU benchie. Might look over at majorgeeks.com for some other free cpu benchies too.

Of course you're not going to see the difference, its all mental.....sure it'll decode a video 30secs faster but I doubt you'll notice.....

SuperPI is the benchmark I use to see the gain out of my overclocks. For stability testing, then use Prime95 and run it for a night or two mate, if it passes then your good to go.

Actually u will save around 40% of time encoding with his overclock, as encoding time is usually linear with cpu frequency.
