How do the most advanced PDA's compare to really old computers?

The newest Toshiba PDA, the e7xx, supposedly has a 400mhz XScale Processor. How would that PDA compare to the 400 MHz K6-2's of many years ago besides the fact it has a lot less memory. Shouldn't the flash RAM be a lot faster than a harddrive though? If there were some way to put the processor of that PDA on a motherboard of that year would it perform better, worse, or the same as the K6-2? Why?

flash RAM is slower than dirt. I can write it out on paper faster :)

Actually, Flash RAM is slower than current hard drives. That is about the only thing I can comment on, as I do not know too much about the new processors.

<--- still happy with his Cassopia E-100.

<edit>
And I would like to say, my K6 266 and K6/2 550 is not "really old" :D

IIRC, the Xscale is like the P4 = high clock at all costs. It actually performs like the lower-clocked ARM processors. I can't remember where I read that though.

The main reason for that is that none of the PocketPC software has yet been recompiled to take advantage of the Xscale's new instructions, so right now it's just acting like a regular SA. Hopefully stuff will be re-written soon.

wow, it really is like a P4 - better with recompiles ;)

Anyway, I also think they are similar to pentium ~100s
