Iraq is a conservative country. I'm guessing the soldiers return straight to their base because hanging out in town may lead to hanging off a bridge...or worse. How do these soldiers release stress? Are there prostitutes that come to the base or do they go to Kuwait?

There were not too many options when i was there; either you took care of yourself
or try to find a female soldier; there were even reports of some of the US female soldiers forming prostitution rings on some of the larger FOB's (I cannot personally verify this).

As for this war possibly trips to the Emirates, Kuwait, etc. , and I also heard the Green Zone.
But I don't think it is anything near like Japan, Korea, Vietnam, or Europe.
Imagine the uproar if they were doing with the muslim girls what they were doing in previous wars including marriage with the nationals.

Nothing odd about such a question. Somebody carrying around a loaded gun has to release his stress somehow. You can't have that built up in you or you might explode. Even this has to be of concern to the commanding officers.
Loaded gun? I just call it MSB (massive sperm buildup) Some of us long time married guys get it too, and we don't even have to leave the country.

The question doesn't make him a crackpot lefty. That he is a crackpot lefty is simply a fact, and if you'd bother to read his other posts that much would be clear. Seriously, when i was deployed in Sarajevo there was this woman who i really really wanted to screw, but i didn't, i waited and as time passed it was ok just to jack off in the loo and then keep talking to her, i had no protection and it was not easily available, i wouldn't have worried much about diseases but i could have gotten her knocked up and sure, i would have left, but i cared about her.

In case some of you haven't noticed . . . most of the dead soldiers and Marines are males under 30. Speaking from experience (before the married with kids), reasonably frequent sex (with a woman) was rather important. Silent Sam can attest to how easy that was in Chapel Hill.
Obviously, life for service people in Iraq sux on multiple levels but it's not like they spend 24/7 on patrol. During those all too infrequent intervals of reasonableness, I'm sure a few guys (and gals) would say swimming, watching movies, hitting the weights, going for a run, listening to music, and even calls to the states are GREAT . . . BUT . . .

IMHO, this is the first time where sex may be an issue when soldiers want a little R&R. I thought it'd be a good discussion topic and I was wondering how the soldiers are coping. It's an honest question for the curious.

Soldiers are resticted at all times, what makes you believe that a soldier on leave in a foreign country isn't on specific restrictions?
Here's a clue numbnuts, forget the movies you watched and realize that pretty much everything you do while wearing the uniform is restricted to what you are allowed to do, sex is not one of the things that is even included in the code of conduct you have to follow.
Does it happen? Sometimes, it pretty much always leads to dishonorable leave of the force you are presently in, but it can come down to spending a few years in jail since ALL such cases have to be investigated and if she does not agree (if she's and officer, why would she, it would basically end her career) then you will be charged with rape.
My only advice to anyone is that the gun in your hands is for talking and the gun in your pants is for the day you get out of the shithole you're currently in.
Whats "FOB"? This is the second time it has been brought up. I could ask a couple buddies that are ex-marines, but we only talk once a month or so.
There are some males of mammalian species (humans included) that NEVER breed, ever. 6 months? Meh...

Geting involved with a female soldier gets you kicked out so fast it will make your head spin, and yeah, there is pretty much always some jealous a-hole who will tell.

Try three year long deployments, it shouldn't happen but it has.
