How do people like texas?

I live in San Antonio.

I used to hate Texas, but I came to realize that it was a wonderful state. Especially since I used to live in Louisiana and North Carolina. Texas is wonderful. I see there are lots of negative comments already, but who cares what they think. You should try getting opinions of people who actually live in Texas, not those who base their opinions on what they see on tv.

Texas is great.

The summers are hot though. But I enjoy the heat. 😎 The winters aren't too bad either. And there are LOTS and LOTS of tourist attractions. 🙂
 
Only place I've ever been with worse traffic than Atlanta was Milan, IT and NYC. I refuse to believe that Houston or Dallas touch them in traffic, and I've been to both many times.
 
I've lived in Atlanta, Houston, and Corpus Christi. Frankly, I like Atlanta much better than Houston but I liked Corpus Christi much more than Atlanta.
 
Where do you want to live?

You can get mid continent weather in the panhandle Amarillo, or go for the Galveston/Houston area for a gulf weatehr pattern, or go desert in West Texas, or go woods in east Texas...

I'm in DFW area & I like it, been here for >10 years.
 
I travel many times to Texas and have friends and relatives in Texas. I like it.

It is not perfect but it is a nice place to live. The people are friendly, cost of living is cheap <especially compare to Cali and Northeast area>, plenty of things to do and see, lots of jobs and opportunities.

Here are the cities that I like: (in order) Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas are toss up.

I live it so much that I will move to Texas in January 2006 <if everything go to plan>.

I can tell you have visited many times haven't you.

1. Too hot, only during the summer. Spring time with its wild flowers, mild winters, at times, though we broke a record low last week, it got down to 15 degrees here.

2. Too flat.
Try going to the hill country, past Austin, or out East to the Nacogdoches and San Augustine area, woods, woods and more woods. Beautiful area.

Humid. Only in certain areas.

You have no clue about Texas.

I like Texas for it's diversity, desert, hill country, woods, it is not all flat. Lots to see, lots to do, the people are great. I like it here. 🙂

You sir, have made incorrect assumptions. Not only have I been to texas; I've had the misfortune of living there for several years. Granted that was in Houston which explains a lot, but I've driven through the state many a time as well and was not impressed with the rest. This gives me the credentials to form a valid opinion on the place.

You are entitled to your opinion, as I mine. But, some of your opinions, are just that, opinions. Not based on fact. Texas is not all flat.

Some like Texas, and some do not. I don't care. Get your facts straight.

Funny, how many threads have been posted about Texas lately, quite a few.

I never said texas was all flat. I just said it was too flat. I prefer mountains, and to that end, I live in the shadow of Mt. McKinley, Alaska. As far as I'm concerned, most everywhere is too flat. Including texas. How can I get my facts straight if I've only laid out opinions?

To be completely honest, I am basing my opinion of texas 100% off of cops (the tv show), and king of the hill. Stupid, I know.. but..

what's your opinion?

What exactly are you looking for and what draws you to texas? I've been to Texas many times and have a lot of friends down there. Austin is a great place, some of San Antonio is okay too, but I'd much rather live some place like Denver if you're looking somewhere in the Mid-west/Mid-South

Having lived there for a year, wish I could go back, I enjoyed living in the DFW area more then anywhere else I have lived.

Edit: Oh ya DFW isnt a humid sweat pit like most of the rest of texas.

I love it here in Houston, but I like hot climates and never having to deal with snow.
Cost of living in Houston is very low. That same 4 bedroom 2-3 bath house would cost around 90-100K here in Houston.

EDIT: BTW- only the Gulf cost region is hot and humid, and you are going to find that in any Gulf Cost city. Austin, DFW, Waco, San Antonio, Lubbock, or Amarillo are not all that humid, and some are considerably less hot.

If i could find a job that pays what i make now in College Station i would move there. i like the community and you can get a 4 bedroom house on a nice size lot for 180K.

I dont enjoy the heat, humidity, bugs or snakes.

My sister is building a house near the woodlands. its a deal where the buyer is the general contractor and has to arrange for everything. Its a lot of work but they are saving a boat load of money by being the GC. when we were down there 2 weeks ago she took us to see her 2 acre lot. it was cleared and the pad was built. they poured the foundation last monday. this is a 4,500 sqft home and i cant wait for it to be done i need a place to just hang out when we go down there.
 
California always welcome you. The OC. The Beaches and etc...
atlanta :Q one of the worse city in the US.. so I heard..
