This seems most common with single women, but there seem to be plenty of men out there as well who are like this. These are people who's tool set cosists of a rusty flat blade screwdriver, a hammer that the head is falling off of, and a pair of pliers that look like they were purchased at the dollar store. You usually only find out about this when you're visiting said person, and something simple at thier house needs to be fixed. You offer to fix it, only to find out that the reason the knob has been falling off a cabinet for 4 and a half months is because they don't own a single tool with which to fix it.
Ok, it's slightly more than that. It seems that even if these people did own the neccesary screwdriver, they wouldn't know which direction to turn it, or where on the cabinet to put it before turning.
How do people get by with out being able to do the simplest household jobs by themselves?
I can't imagine not owning simple things like screwdrivers and a 3/8" drive ratchet. It'd be like not owning silverware to me.
