I didn't mean for moving. Just day to day things. You want to go buy a tv, grill, air compressor, a table, anything like that. Most of it won't fit in a car.

Not everyone buys into mass consumerism. :p Besides, I seriously doubt it's that bad in the age of fold down seats vs a compact pickup.

I had a 2005 F150 as a rental for a while, it was pretty useful. Parents needed a new mattress, so I went to costco to get one and threw it in the back. I'd consider getting one for a second vehicle if I owned a home, but never primary. I live in LA and it's too damn big to use as just transportation. Gas mileage was crappy, always below 20 mixed. Parking was a nightmare, everywhere I went it was pretty much the biggest personal vehicle on the street.

I had to drive it to class also, and while driving around in the parking lot full of honda and toyotas, these three hot asian girls were looking at me like I was nuts, lol.

Another thing is these are somewhat expensive. A basic 4.6L F150 is like 23K invoice.

I've moved decent sized TV's (27" Wega) in an Aspire, it's not hard.

I was referring to my gf's Sunbird for this. It's a decent size car and the seats fold down.

I've had 3 Rangers and an F-150. Got kids and got a minivan. The van's not quite as good as a truck, but when all the seats are out of it, it's almost as good as a pickup. Ask Fausto, I hauled his big screen home for him in that thing....and he mocked me about owning a mini-van too...that bastard. ;)

LOL..

I hadn't seen this pic in awhile. This actually happened in my town of Waldorf, Maryland. The customer bought the items at Home Depot about a 1/2 mile down the road before his car did that. The clerks would not help him and he loaded it himself. If I remember correctly he ATTEMPTING to go about 20 miles like that. Not too brilliant.

You have a Miata. What did you expect?
And yes, if I had a house, I would probably get beater truck just for those occasions.

I am referring to a mid-size car like my gf's.

But, surprisingly, I can fit $300 of groceries in my Miata.

But what about stores that sell large items, but don't deliver.

I borrow one when I need one. You could also rent one, but that's only worth the money if you have a lot of stuff you need moved.

I can move most stuff that I need in my Mazda3. Folding down the backseat, I can transport a 6' table or a decent-size grill. Anything bigger than that and I need to have it delivered or ask someone with an F-350 to help me. Being in the south, its not too hard to find one of those. :)

I plan to get a truck for my next vehicle. I like them, so useful.

I was wanting to go for maybe an older crown vic or something, but a truck wins, especially if I'm moving myself between Saint Louis and Houston twice a year (live in Stl, school in houston).

And now I'm spending most of my time in TX, i kinda need one.

You own a Miata. I warned you before you bought it that it can scarcely hold a bag of groceries.

As it is, we do own a truck in addition to our daily drivers.

You might consider a hitch and trailer for your car. It has the virtue of being something used only as needed, and can be detached when desired. Economical and practical.
