How do people get by without a truck?

I've been shopping for stuff for my townhouse and it's a pain without one. Absolutely nothing fits in my car. My gf's Sunbird could barely fit a papazan chair. I need a truck.

Do people just get everything bigger than a microwave delivered?

I just got my first truck a few months ago. Every family should have a truck for at least one of their vehicles.

I'm starting to realize that. Even relatively small things like chairs, tv's, or garage stuff won't fit in mid-size four door car.

Everything I've ever needed (save a Queen bed and mattress) fit nicely in my Civic trunk:
[*]chairs,
[*]8' fake christmas tree and 6' wide,
[*]1000 sq ft of wood flooring in two trips, (Should have seen the look on the faces of the warehouse people when I said to put it in the Civic. They kept asking where my installer's truck was).
[*]etc.

Full fold down seats and a tall opening means a heck of a lot can be squeezed into it. For the bed frame + mattress, I paid $30 for it to be delivered to a different city. So I'm out $30. It would cost me a lot more than that to buy a truck that would be used once a year.

I used to do that, but now I live two hours away from everyone I know. I need to be more self sufficient.

I like my Miata, but am thinking about a truck. :(

Good question, we've had a truck for as long as I can remember...

Well, I guess there were times that we didn't have one.. But only when we lived in the city.

I didn't mean for moving. Just day to day things. You want to go buy a tv, grill, air compressor, a table, anything like that. Most of it won't fit in a car.

I live in Texas....I can find a truck any day just about anywhere to get my stuff home so why should I buy one and get 12 mpg?

I can't remember the last time I've purchased any of those things you've listed.

But places like Dicks, Walmart, etc don't deliver. That only works for a few major stores.

Have lots of you never run into this problem?

You know part of the problem might be that you drive a Miata.

I've moved decent sized TV's (27" Wega) in an Aspire, it's not hard.
