How do MS corporate keys work?

Bruck

Senior member
I am trying to settle a dispute between myself and a co-worker of mine. He says, that the key that we use here to install windows xp is used by another or many other companies that have purchased a corporate version of windows xp.

Is there any truth to this, I believe that every key is individual and that ms has no reason to re-use keys specially since that takes away their ability to kill a key if the company were to cancel their subscription, that way they would no longer be able to update to sp2...etc.

Thanks for any feedback on the issue

Lou

does your key start with c77xh?

I don't think so. I believe it's one key per your Enrollment Number. As an example our parent company signs our Master Agreement with Microsoft. Then each division of our company gets their own enrollment number. Each enrollment has different corporate keys.

Same with Academic institution keys - each academic account gets a separate key.
