I assume they dont read all these posts so how do they know when to lock them? What triggers them to lock a post? Just curious.

See the little triangle thingy below your name over on the left side? Members click that to report posts that violate the rules. Sometimes they result in a thread being locked (spam), sometimes they draw our attention to a problem that's brewing, sometimes they result in an infraction for the person making a particular post, sometimes we find the reported post not to necessarily be over the line to the point of being actionable. Often, if there's a thread that looks like it may turn into trouble, the moderators make their own thread about it, just to alert other moderators to take a glance if they have the time, to make sure it hasn't spiraled out of control. Other times, we take a pre-emptive, "we've seen this happen before and we're locking this before it spirals out of control, resulting in infractions, before it actually does." And, sometimes, we just happen to read a thread, like this one, and conclude, "wrong forum!" resulting in either the thread being moved, or in this case, since your question has now been answered, locked. -Admin DrPizza

usually when I ridicule the OP's stupidity in making a useless thread.

Cue mods... now.
