How do I .. buy a used cell phone? I'd like to replace my old Verizon cell phone with something snappier .. I was thinking of buying one from someone on Ebay.

After you get it, how does one transfer service from one phone to another? Do you just walk into the Verizon store and have them do it, even though you didn't buy it from them? Do they charge for that service? Thanks.

1) yeah, don't open it, write return to sender, and put it back in the mailbox or drop it off at the PO.

Just buy it off of someone in FS/FT forum or eBay. It should be deactivated already. Some phones are locked into certain carriers, so you must make sure that it is available for use with your carrier. Then just go into a Verizon Wireless store, they won't care if you didn't buy it from them... If you are a new customer, then they'll run a credit check on you first, and probably charge you an activation fee. If you are a current customer, they'll just switch it right over for free using the phone's ESN (ID#). Takes about 2 minutes 🙂
