How do I get my d-link 704 router/switch to connect to ATT broadband. Do I need to know the server IP it's supposed to go to or what?
I set up my DSL two years ago, and now I just drew a blank while staring at the config screen.

Set it up for DHCP authentication. Most broadband service providers use DHCP to get you your IP and the addresses for DNS.

Thanks for the tip.
I tried following D-links guide but it doesn't help. I still can't get my router to connect to the net. I'm really getting pissed. I ain't payin $50 a month for one computer to get on the net.

Please somebody help me. :(

Make sure you need to use DHCP. Make sure your PC is set to DHCP if you are using the DHCP server on the router. Use static ips if possible, those home network NAT machines seem to have flakey DHCP servers. Make sure your pc is getting an ip address, gateway, and dns servers. If it is, try pinging an ip address (that is pingable, Microsoft.com is not pingable). If that does not work, try tracerouting the same ip address.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and your title sucks.

did you make sure that you registered your router's mac address with att. and if you did, i would check back with them to make sure they have it. I have so much trouble with them when i have to register mac addresses of routers and cable modems. last time it took at least 10 calls before they got it right.
