How do I write zeros to the hard drive?

Selling my laptop. Have already deleted partitions. I have heard about writing zeros to the drive to make any kind of data on there even more unrecoverable, and I would like to know how to go about doing this. Can anyone assist? Thanks.

go the manufacturers web site, and look for the utility to do this..

IBM's use "Drive Fitness Test"
Maxtor's used to use the "Write Zero" utility..

its pretty important that you use the one specifically for the manufacturer of the drive..
