Where can I get a unlocked 1.2 ghz thunderbird and how am I supposed to get it to run at 133mhz fsb.
I am looking to build a new system.
Here's what I'm thinking about to get started with:

1ghz-1.2ghz thunderbird
asus a7m266 mobo
pc2100 128mb

the regular thunderbirds won't currently work with pc2100, will they?

Does asus bios let you run at 133fsb.......does thunderbird 1.2ghz run at that?

I just recently got my 1.2 and it was already unlocked. From what I been reading and hearing all the 1.2's are already unlocked. As far as running at 133fsb, I don't think it will run that high.

of course it will!! that is as long as you got a kt133A board. You may have to lower the multiplier but the fsb will easily support 133 fsb........if you have descent ram

Techie,

You are probably better off with a KT133A motherboard and good quality PC133 CAS2 ram. Then just lower the mulitplier and up the FSB till you get CRAZY performance!! :)

If you unlock the multiplier and underclock the chip, getting to 133 shouldn't be a problem.

But the Asus A7M266 motherboard doesn't come with clock multiplier....
If I higher the bus to 133mhz...........the 1 ghz chip would run at 1330.
Right?

It may crash running that fast......maybe I'll just get it up to 120mhz.
That's reasonable. Right?

Probably need good cooler.
