How Do I Uninstall Win2K on a Dual-Boot System

I'm running Win98SE and Win2K. Unfortunately, my cable company (@home) says they won't provide any technical support while I have a dual-boot system. So, what's the best way to uninstall Win2K from my system.

FYI: Win98SE is on Drive C, Win2K is on Drive D.

Well, first off I wouldn't tell them I was dual booting. I wouldn't think that is causing any problems but I have not done what you are doing.

I have no experience in doing this but it would most likely depend on how your system is set up. Is 9x on the primary (C) partition? If so you can probably delete 2k if you can resolve the mbr situation. Maybe with fdisk /mbr - just guessing.

Post your exact configuration so someone knowledgeable in this can help.

Dont worry about them not providing technical support, dual-boot won't cause any problems... Besides, @Home technical support sucks! You have us for technical support

The easiest way is to use partition magic to format the drive it is on. Remember to change Win98 back to the default OS first or you will have to go into your Boot.ini file and do it manually.

The Win2K/Win98 dual-boot is implemented above the MBR level, hence FDISK /MBR will not solve it. You need to boot from a Win98 boot diskette, and type "sys c:". Afterwards, you can do as you will with the Win2K partition.
