I just got my new hs/f today, but my old one (stock AMD 64 hs/f) has the cpu glued to it. How do I unstick the cpu from the hs/f safely?

i usually run prime 95 for 30-60 minutes to get it nice and hot. then as opposed to just pulling it out, try twisting it a bit back and forth to break the seal. then it should lift off much easier.

You can run Prime95 like they said, or you can use a hairdryer to heat it up. then just twist/lift it off.

Fire is fun! I have used AS5 and still do, but this is a reason some prefer not too.

Sacrificing a few degrees for easy removal*IS* an advantage to using a less efficiant
grease.

Just got my $9.95 heat gun from Harbor Freight and would not reccomend it even at it's low setting of 630F.

Just me, but i would put a cardboard dam around the heatsink to isolate the heat from the hairdryer.

i pulled my wini right out of its socket with the waterblock attached........it survived

anyway I sometimes forget (like the time above) to heat up things by running prime95 so then I just use a heatgun instead
