i formatted my hard-disk by mistake. though i dint lose any important data (only my sister did.... heh heh) , the hacker in me wants to try experimenting with some unformatting ;)

so pls suggest some good programs which i can use to unformat my disk. doesnt matter if its DOS- based as long as the program performs well i.e. manages to throw up all the data lost.

Haven't tried it, but Lost & Found is supposed to do the job... The problem is, I can't find the thread where it was posted... :(

Did u do a quick format (should take less than half a minute), or a full format (about 20-30 minutes).

Quick format can be undone, full format is much more difficult - a data center could do that, but they charge premium bucks.

The problem is that a full format rewrites all sectors, so it is really difficult to get the data back, although technically it is still there.
