How do I underclock a 2600xt?

I just installed a Gecube GC-XHD2600XTG4-D3 (2600xt, slight OC from factory) in an HTPC because all of the 2600pro cards seem to be disappearing from the stores. CCC allows overclocking, but I really have no need for more speed. I want less heat.

Has anybody successfully underclocked an ATI 2x00 card?

ATI Tray Tools doesn?t support over/underclocking of the 2x00 series cards from what I?ve read on their forums. It crashes the system upon any clock speed change. It also can't detect the speeds properly, and can't read the temps either. The only thing I haven?t tried that I know of is Rivatuner.

The card seems excellent so far. The cooler is huge and seems to run very quiet. There is also no buzzing/hissing/whining that I can detect.

ATi Tool may do the trick for you. RivaTuner as well. I've underclocked my video cards useing RivaTuner.

Oh, I didnt read "ATI Tray Tools" as "ATI Tool". So you've READ it crashes the system huh? Well here's a novel idea. Try it for yourself, not like 1 or 2 crashes will ruin your computer.

you never said you tried it before, but apparently you have w/ your latest post. Good to hear, so it sounds like RivaTuner is your next choice.

Ummm, no. I've tried ATI Tray Tools repeatedly and it crashes the system upon any clock change (like I said above). I then browsed their forums and found comments that the 2x00 series cards are not supported.

ATI Tool crashes immediately upon running it. At least ATI Tray Tools runs...but it can't change the clocks. It also reads the GPU and memory speeds as 13.50.
