How do I turn off hyper threading?

I'm running a system (on a second computer I picked up for cheap) that doesn't need to multitask, I was thinking about running some benches to find out if the system functions better without hyperthreading but I don't know how to disable it. Any thoughts?

It won't run substantially better, HT is essentially 'free' performance when you multithread.

Yeah why do you want to turn it off ?

Sorry just read the whole thing. Duive did the same a while back, saw gains from -3% to 30% in some things. PM duive.

i got a 3.4 p4 at work. HT is great, runs seti and grid at the same time while i'm working. Having them run both doesn't really slow eachother down. If i turned it off, then i could probably run one and won't be able to type anymore either.
