How do I turn off dual processing?

I have looked everywhere, but I can not figure out how to run in single cpu mode on my dual opteron 250 system. I have a tyan tiger k8w s2875 mobo and am running win xp pro. thanks.

Most dual processor motherboards I have ran into will just boot as normal with only a cpu installed in the first socket.

I don't believe any SMP(dual) board will let you disable a CPU at will. You have to take it out. What program is giving you problems?

Well whenever I train my voice in game commander 2 and 3, I get a stop error. Here was the response from tech support:

Problem description:
Whenever I edit or train new commands my computer crashes on a blue screen error. The error reads:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

And it lists ctaud2k.sys as part of the problem.

Since I heard that gc3 does this I tried gc2 and still got the error.
Dear Craige,

Unfortunately it is a known error of Game Commander's ASR engine that it fails on dual CPU systems. This problem is the same in all versions of GC, since it is a problem of ASR engine we apply.

I suggest you to set to single CPU mode while you train or edit commands.

I'm sorry.

Try setting the program affinity to only 1 CPU, if you get that far. Try asking over at 2CPU.com also

in your boot.ini file:

/NUMPROC=
This switch sets the number of processors that Windows NT will run at
startup. This will help test out performance problems and defective
CPUs. For example, /NUMPROC=3
