I once beat the sh!t out of one with a baseball bat, it was an old monitor, had really think glass on it (the first swing, the bat just obunced off the glass, took 4 or 5 good swings to completely distory the glass). After it was smashed, we pured some gas on it and set it on fire :) (looked really cool since their was snow on the ground at the time). That was a lot of fun, have a video of it too :).
Where's the video where's the video?? :D
This should be interesting...

Last one I disposed of was when I was living in Middle GA... Took it out in a big field in the middle of nowhere and blew it away w/ my friend's SKS :)

I've heard stories about how buildings had to be evacuated for a few days because a tv set broke. What the heck is in these things that is so dangerous?

apparently it's illegal to leave a monitor on your curb in California. Same with putting it in your garbage can. $1000 fine for anything close to those :(

I did not know it was not legal to throw away a monitor. I recently dumped a 17" crt (had a fuzzy side) in my dumpster at home... oops

"two states, Massachutes and California have already made it illegal to put electronics in the trash."

Put it beside a dumpster, and afix a lable, stating this monitor worked before I brougt it out, but we don't need it anymore. Do not leave your name, address or phone number on the NOTE!!!

Best suggestion so far...though 4. might not be needed (just don't provide a return address - or repeat steps 1 and 2 to find a name/address to ship it "from")

Simply put it out by the curb. It will be gone within hours. People drive around looking for stuff like this.

I've done this with TVs, monitors, vacuum cleaners, microwaves, old furniture... hell, even a 20" TV that was shot with a .38 (I had always wanted to do that) was gone within an hour after setting it out by the curb.

It costs me $35 each monitor to dispose of them from work. I started cleaning out the excess stock, and placed 2-4 monitors on the curb every week, and every time they were gone within hours. I figured that it saved my budget close to $1000 just for getting rid of those stupid things.
