We have the same rule here in Canada, and the reasoning is that it is against the company policy to dumpster diving. Because many companies & the union believe that dumpster diving is unsafe & promote theft.Originally posted by: aircooled
If you live near a large city, ther is usually a recycling program.
At work, our dumpster folks will accept monitors as long as the cords have been snipped (I don't understand the reasoning, but thats their rule)

1. open dumpster lid
2. drop it in
3. step back and admire ruckus that ensued.

I once beat the sh!t out of one with a baseball bat, it was an old monitor, had really think glass on it (the first swing, the bat just obunced off the glass, took 4 or 5 good swings to completely distory the glass). After it was smashed, we pured some gas on it and set it on fire(looked really cool since their was snow on the ground at the time). That was a lot of fun, have a video of it too
.
Anyways, in the United States a person can throw away just about anything legally, it is classifed as Household Hazardous Waste, and there are basically no regulations of it. However, businesses basically can not throw away anything, for example it is illegal for a company to throw away froscent (sp?) light bulbs, batteries and even latex paint. In short give it to the trashman.
Edit: BTW: Dumping in someone else's dumpster is illegal, so I wouldn't recommend doing that.![]()
