How do I switch PSU?

Do I have to take out the motherboard and other componenets in order to switch out my PSU?

not really, you take out the power cord, unhook all the components hooked up to your PSU, screw it out, remove it, replace it with the new PSU, hook up all the components to the right connectors and voila. You'd be quite the guy to remove the motherboard before unhooking the PSU and such :p

But MOST are pretty close to the same size. SOME are much bigger. (longer)

There are 2 main sizes. You have ATX and mATX PSUs. mATX PSUs are generally much smaller then the standard ATX. But on the flip side there are many ATX PSUs that are larger then most. Mainly those that are about 850W or larger tend to be longer then ussual.
