How do I stop the damn porn spam on ICQ!

I have had ICQ for about a month. Its version 2001b. I get about 15 porn spams aday, and I hit the ignore button for them all. And they still keep comming!!! I like porn as much as the next person, but I dont want the damn spams all the freaking time!!!!!!!!!!! How do I stop them? Thanks
 
I would like to know also. Do those guys even make money off of them? I think that everyone who uses ICQ would just ignore them.
 
You know what, i bet it is some punk friend of yours that is signing up for these lists with your #. LOL
 
Why would you want to stop the spam porn? The only excuse I can give to my wife is that I was spammed and havn't had a chance to delete it yet.
 
Wanna know how? Switch to Trillian to access ICQ...not kidding here, read on:

I used to get those spams like one per every half hour in frieking ICQ 2001B. For some reason, since I got Trillian, I've only seen two ever (and I've used Trillian for a few months now). Odd, huh?

Just choose not to receive messages from unknown contacts. Simple as that. Look around in the security options. It's there.

Go in the Preferences and click on SMS Messages.

Check the box next to "Set ICQ to automatically decline from users who are not on my Contact List"

Hey, that's not funny! I know how to block messages from strangers, but say a friend I know but who has never IMd me on ICQ wants to IM me....will that IM arrive? Take a wild guess :Q So is the filter effective? Take a wild guess :Q

It's a mere coincidence that I haven't been getting spams since I started using Trillian for ICQ. I don't know, but it's just a coincidence, and I felt like posting about it 🙂 Spam=bad....
 
never used trillian before..is it much better than icq? i know it connects to icq, but just wondering about the interface and stuff
 
I was using icq 99b forever then I lost all data in a hdd crash and decided to upgrade to 2001, man was I surprised to find aol banners all over the place, I like to think of AOL-Timewarner as the anti-midas, everything they touch turns to crap, there is no better way to say it. Aol sucks, they just want a bunch of mindless drones with money to subscribe to their service, we use their crappy free cd's for target shooting with paintball guns.

It works well....it maintains almost all of the features in AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and ICQ. RAM usage is around 5mb for me right now, even though I'm connected to all four networks....as for interface, there's 50+ skins. I'm using the WinXP 1.1 skin, but there's sure to be one you really like 😀

Before you going calling people clueless, you might want to make sure you know something about the topic at hand. I have set both trillian and ICQ to block incoming messages from users not on my list, but I still get porn spam on both programs. I get quite a bit more on ICQ, but I still get about 1 a day on trillian. I wonder what they are using to deliver the spam... about half of the messages I get say something about an undeliverable mime type.
