I've killed it in msconfig, only to have it reappear when I restart. I've also looked and looked, but I can't find a setting to stop it from starting on startup.

I'm running XP pro SP1.

It's funny you should post this. I was wondering the same thing. I too disabled it in MSConfig & it was gone for a couple of boots but then it appeared again this morning. So I deleted it again & I suspect it will be returning. Damn trayicon!

Look in both HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run

Open Quick Time: Edit->Preferences-> Quicktime Preferences -> Uncheck "Quicktime system tray icon"
