Try again the same as you did first time.
Then relapse, then try again.

Took me 3 tries over about 12 months to stop drinking the stuff. Now I can manage to have one every now and then without wanting it all the time.

You don't need a damned thing, you just have yourself convinced that you do. The best way to break any addiction is to simply walk away cold turkey. Develop some will power and self control and just stop. It will serve you well the next time you have to make a decision like this also.

Meh, a few sugars is infinitely better than the tooth enamel and stomach-lining eating acid of colas. ;)

Just stop. I did. Getting over soda is pathetic compared to what other people need to do. I used to drink it every day all the time. I quit for almost 6-months and lost quite a few pounds.

Putting them back on though. :) Thanks McDonald.

Careful what you say...I know a guy who's addiction is so bad it's ruined his kidneys, yet he still drinks it and has to be hospitalized. Addiction is addiction.

OP, try carrying around a travel mug of 100% fruit juice. There's some really good flavors in cartons available now...maybe not the best thing you can do but it could help.

How I did it, was I slowly cut down my consumption of coke, and started drinking more water. Instead of bringing coke as a drink to work or school, I brought a bottle of water instead.

It helped me loose weight and feel better, although i still drink coke from time to time (2-3 times a week), and will absolutely have a coke & rum at a bar. Just moderate it so you dont drink it much and dont have it around.

Actually I recommend using juice and Gatorade to replace it.
You will eventually dislike soda.

I did the same and started drinking water at work. Not carrying cash/change helps cause I can't spend it on the vending machines.

What works best for me is tea.

Although I noticed wihtout the soda I picked up sugar in other things. Either way, I burn it all off exercising so wtf.

I hardly ever drink pop at work and I rarely buy pop for at home. I'll have it with pizza or a get together but thats it at home.

The other place I get it is eating out but I have cut way back compared to what I used to drink.

You're probably addicted to the caffeine in the soda. As others have said you could drink tea. I completely stopped drinking sodas all the time from ordering good quality tea from http://www.adagio.com and using a bit of splenda with it. Most tea has some caffeine in it, so it shouldn't be hard to switch.

I wouldn't switch to something like nestea, that stuff is probably just as bad as drinking sodas.
