if I don't use the app full screen then f14/f15 also play with my brightness.

keyboard/mouse under prefs did not have an item for this

In the Keyboard and Mouse section, under the Keyboard Tab, check the box that says "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as function keys" Then you just press fn to use the hardware functionality. Man, you have been having more issues with your iMac, the keyboard, and the software you are running... just wow, not saying anything negatively, just you know wow. However, next issue that you might have, i would say drop it in an existing thread instead of starting another one.

I do not have the option you speak of.

I also am trying to change some mouse bindings, hitting button 3 or is it 4 causes the same effect as f9

10.04.10 is the version I am running.

I'm not really having difficulty with this iMac, just apparently trying to thing all the little system "helpers" didn't expect me do to!

Below the two sliders is a box for "Type her to test settings" and right below the box for that is the button for Modifier keys.

No check box whatsoever

Hrm.... I have no idea then, that is truly strange. Maybe the desktops don't have that option, which strikes me as weird. Google?
