How do I split an mp3?

I have a 73 min mp3 that I would like to split into separate tracks, but I haven't found a program that can do this yet without converting it into a wave first. I've already tried Cooledit 2000. Does anyone know of a program that can edit MP3's without converting them?

Try ftp'ing it to yourself and stopping the transfer at the point you wish to cut off. Obviously it only works if you want the beginning of the song though. Pretty crude but hey it's an option.

Open up the file, select the part you want, and, because it's too late and I can't remember the better way, just CTRL+X (cut) it and then make a new file and CTRL+V (paste) it. Repeat as necessary.

You could physically split the file in half (no, I don't mean unscrew the cover off your HD and cut the platters in half). Cutting half of the file out and pasting it in a new file might work. Dunno if you want to bother with copying 1/2 gig into memory, but feel free to try it and tell me if it works.
