How do I split an *.avi file?

I got 730MB *.avi that won't fit on a 700MB CD, I tried to zip it, but it went down to 716MB and still couldn't fit. I'm planning on splitting it and zipping both pieces and fit it on a 700MB CD or possibly a 650MB CD. Also, I want to join the files together later too.

Openup the webpage in notepad & see what the part of the webpage you want to link to is called, then type '#(name of that part of the page), at the end of the link?

well i made an avi once, then found a way to compress it from 200 mb, to 18 mb, lemme see if i can figure out what i did.....
