The speed was fine on my 19" monitor, but now with a 30" monitor,it's slower than I'd wanted.
It's already at it's highest setting in the Contol Panel.

Any way to speed it up?

It's probably a good idea to get a higher resolution mouse; software speeding only goes so far before it gets a bit hard to use.

Higher DPI, such as some mice go up to 2000DPI such as Logitech G5 and quite a few others.

I have a G5 hooked up to the comp with a Dell 30 inch. Using the medium DPI setting its plenty fast. At highest DPI it shoots across it and the 24 inch screen next to it like a blur.

DPI stands for dot per inch.
I see no way that equates to increasing the speed of your mouse.
How dos increasing your DPI increase the mouse speed?
Technically it doesn`t.
All it does is increase the accuracy of the reading surface or for gamers it means less motion is required to find and acquire a target!

Yeah, you would think it just increases accuracy, but the increase in accuracy also means its sending the computer each single movement at a much higher rate. Then you can adjust how fast the computer moves the mouse based on a movement reading. Basically I keep the G5 at medium (1600 DPI) most the time, as 2000 tends to send it flying.

Why not just move your hand faster? :)

Disable "enhance pointer precision" in XP.
Enable acceleration in 3rd party software.

In addition to OCing it, we could mod a Enermax Galaxy 1KW right to it, maybe that will speed it up a bit (or blow it up).

I will take you up on that bet:D Chances are if he has a 30" lcd... he doesn't have a ball mouse.

EDIT: Of course you'll have to pay me in imaginary dollars when I'm right...

Taking another look, he said he has a 30" LCD. How sad would it be if he had a $1K monitor and a $2 mouse.

Edit: I think I have a couple of those in my wallet.

hmmm... that sound's oddly familiar... deja vu`? No....

EDIT: Finally making a contribution to the thread... OP: Monitor res doesn't actually slow the mouse down, it just has to cover a larger area of screen so it seems slower. You could up the sensitivity, as has been said, however this will not effectively increase the "speed" per se of the mouse. It will seem faster though.

ha ha...very funny

I have a no name optical mouse. Got it like 2 years ago for $9. It has HB on top with a bee between those 2 words.

Thanks a lot krotchy for the explanation. I'll look into it. I do photography and high precision is a must. For 19" monitor it was a perfect mouse, but now, it moves like ******

Look into the newer high-DPI mice.

Believe me, at their highest settings, they race across the screen :D

HaHa dB... I win! Good choice with the g5, 2000dpi will be good for you. VG gaming mouse IMO.
