How do I share apps in XP/2000 for separate profiles?

I was wondering like in XP when there are several family members using one box load w/ XP Pro w/ their own profiles, how would I make applications like IM or computer games be available/used from one installation instead of separate installations for each user like it does for MS Office i think?

you dont need a sep install for each user to use office for one. and aim should place itself has being available for other users has well has ICQ once u install it. if you need to make any changes to the start menu, do it to the all users profile to prove the links. but this shouldnt be needed
