If my memory serves me, when you click on the dial up icon (to dial your isp) there should be a tab at the top for options, this should have information in it like maximum connect speed etc. and there should be a box somewhere near the bottom I believe to reconnect if line is dropped (sorry if this is vague, I have been on a LAN for so long lol)

I don't think windows will do that. However there are lots of shareware and freeware dialing managers available that will. Check out sites like Tucows. I think you will find what you are looking for and likely for free.

What if you go into Internet Explorer,
Tools,
Internet options,
connections,
check the box "Dial whenever a network connection is not present"

Then it will NAG you to death everytime it doesn't detect a connection.

That will connect if necessary when a program asks for a connection. It will not however redial a dropped connection like he asked.

I use an older, freeware version of Reget to do this for me.

Not too sure if the freeware version (1.8) is still available for download from the Reget site. If its not, and you want it let me know and I will upload it somewhere for you (its about 1.4Mb or something).

Hmm thanks for all the input ill check out some of the freeware programs, and if I cant find one, ill let you know mitzi, and try to get that program from you. You know, its really annoying that, that feature isnt included in windows98se, because they released a DUN patch a long time ago for WIN95! that allows this option! When I upgraded I went back to 98 because I had a few issues with WIN2K but now I am pretty sure im going to switch back!

Thanks agian

It seems like the first time I used a Dial-up connection under Win98,
when I disconnect a box pops-up and asks me if I want to reconnect.
I always click the checkbox "don't ask this again" & then NO
and I don't see it anymore.
If you could get that box to show up again, tell it yes,
then tell your dialer to "connect automatically" when it pops up.
Maybe that would work?
