Hey gang,

I've got four more NMB 3110KL fans that I like alot. Just got em for $2 bucks a piece and want to put them to work. I've already replaced my case fan, and it made a difference. Now I want to replace the PSU fan, and then buy a new 80mm HSF for my Athlon to take my computer into the quiet zone. :) I may have to rename my computer "The Library" if this all works out. ha ha

Anyway, do I just open up my Antec 300W power supply (its in an Antec 1040 ? case) and unscrew the actual fan blade, or will I be taking out a fan assembly and then just bolting down the NMB in its place? I haven't even cracked the PSU yet as I want to know how much work is involved before I make my first attempt at electrocuiting myself.

All help and links are appreciated.

Thanks,

GS

Be sure to let the powersupply sit for at least 30min after you disconnect it from the wall, and when you open it up do not touch any of the capacitors. You should only have 4 fan screws holding the fan in place, and you will most likely have to cut/splice the new fan or run the new fan lead outside the psu to a header or molex.

Thanks very much.

real quick though: what's a header or molex? I'm sure one of them is the three prong power supply coming from the mobo, but what's the other?
