i'm doing just that. hopefully it will work. i looked at heat guns yesterday and they were all in excess of $50.

be very careful with heat guns.

If you apply too much heat you could melt the solder on a cap or worse. :X

Rule of flame!

If it's hot, keep the damn thing moving always! If you're using an industrial heat gun never put it closer than 3" from the target (in this case) and ALWAYS keep it moving. Holding it stationary can do serious damage - 800°F air vs. 380° solder melting point. :Q

A hair dryer is much safer for the novice to use and will produce sufficient heat to soften the adhesive.

it was a LG775 backplate so i just used the LG775 kit from the new heatsink and wallaaaa everythings good
