How do I remove the BIOS chip?

I need to change it... Mine is bad... I'll be receiving a new chip and have no idea how to remove and install... It only fits in one way right?
 
Well i dont think your bios was dead, probably a bad flash or something, anyhow if your definatly going to remove the thing then, turn off all power but leave it plugged in, earth yourself to the case (actually im not sure if the US has an earth on power sockets) anyway, try to earth your self some way. Then as for the bios, they just pull out, there will be a round indented dot on one corner of the chip i believe, remember where that goes, use 2 pins or even fingernails to pull the chip out, just press the new one in, you might have to use the jumper to clear it again, probably already cleared through. Then flash it the right way this time.

He is talking about PLCC type of bios which are square with a notched corner and are in a recessed socket. The socket can crack if you apply to much pressure on it. So removal tool is best idea.

Do I need to remove the battery and unplug the power?
 
Don't use a screwdriver, you can make a chip puller out of an old pair of tweezers, just bend th 2 ends 90 deg and widen the top gap a little.

I flashed w/ a wrong BIOS (nforce2 Ultra400 mine is SPP A3) and now I cannot get back to the old, every time I try to flash the computer re-starts and don't record the BIOS... The computer is working, do anyone know if there's a way to get back to the old version w/o changing the chip??? cause it's much better for me
 
Did you enable the bios "flashable" in the bios? My old FIC board has a protected BIOS that needs to be enabled first in order to flash.

Yes, i think it has a protection against getting back to previous version... Do anyone know a command to force to write the Award BIOS?

Yes, the computer is working flawlessly... The problem is that FIC support says it's going to cause damage to my MOBO if I keep using this version...
 
Sorry, what I'm getting at is...Have you gone into the BIOS setup since you flashed with the wrong BIOS image and changed the setting to enable the BIOS to be flashed? My FIC board enables BIOS protect (or whatever its called) by default, maybe thats what is causing your problem flashing?
