How do I remove and reinstall back DHCP in Win XP?

Hi, does anybody know how to do it? I am having problem with my DHCP. I am using a SMC Router which has the DHCP server capability. I don't know why but I always get the 169.something.something. I know from doing a search on this forum that's because the DHCP couldn't find the IP address. So basically the 169.something.something is the default that Windows gives if no DHCP found. However, I am sometimes able to get the right ip which is the 192.181.something.something from the SMC Router.

so I was thinking it's either my Windows XP got corrupted which could be the DHCP issue or it could be the network card itself.

I was thinking of removing DHCP and reinstall it back and see what will happen since I did reset the TCP/IP with no luck at all.

I hope someone able to answer my question since I have no more clue how to solve this problem.

Thanks in advance

Hi, thanks for the reply but I don't see any of them. Do you mind explaining to me a little bit? There's no DHCP config at all on the add/remove windows component.

Thanks
