How do I put Home movies on a CD?

I am looking for some software that will let me burn my home movies onto a cd via a cd burner of course.I have connections where I can hook my VCR or camera into my video or TV card and view them on my PC.Is there a program that will let me burn them to cd on the fly,where as I dont have to save them to disk first.

I don't know any way to do it on the fly to a CD. At minimum you need to capture to disk and then burn to CD. I have found it to be very easy to make VCD's and SVCD's using Nero. You may want to head over to VCDHelp and have a look. There is a lot of info there about this subject.

I am 99.9% positive you cannot burn onto a CDR on-the-fly. Playback and burning are obviously done at different speeds. What you should do is use VirtualDub to save to your drive first, as DIVX (avi) or MPG. You should use divx encoding because of size. Keep in mind a direct conversion to mpg (including audio) could take up gigs of space. Also look for the RADIUM MP3 capture codec for audio to keep file sizes at a minimum.

I looked into this because I had tons of hi-8 video I wanted to watch, and hooking up the camcorder was a pain. The best solution I could find is making a video CD, assuming you have a dvd player. It's a little involved, but much more convenient than tape or trying to use your video-out port (if you even have one).
