How do I properly drain a laptop battery?

I heard it was a good idea to completely drain the battery once in awile. Do I just leave it on until it shuts down by itself or am I supposed to shut down when there is like 1% left? Thanks.

theres no reason to. you have x charges per battery. you arejust wasting a charge if you do things like that.

It takes so long to actually kill a battery that you'll never notice the difference. Just use your battery normal and dont waste your time trying other tricks.

10% or less is fine, from everything I've gathered. Then you can charge it all the way back up. It *should* last longer this way.

nicad batteries developed a memory and needed to be drained. I don't know about nimh. Li-ion batteries don't develop a memory and don't need to be drained.
