How do I prevent someone from playing wow?

So many problems here, WOW is the least of them

1. What is a 12yr old doing at home by themselves unsupervised?

2. How does a 12yr old have 12 hours of unsupervised access to the computer everyday?

3. Why was a 12yr old allowed to set up the security profile?

4. And on, and on, and on


Nuke the hard drive, reinstall windows and setup proper security. Send the parents to parenting classes, and send the brat to boot camp. Tough love🙂

I'm trying not to disrupt their general computer usage or his non-Wow computer usage. The router idea sounds best, how do I access the WoW server he connects to and can I block it without system admin? I don't have a WoW account to attempt to login with.

If its XP home maybe he overlooked the built in admin account thats available in Safe Mode, its a full admin account with a blank password. Just hit F8 during boot and log on the Admin account, uninstall wow and change his account to a limited and the parents to admin. Or delete his account (best way). Then make sure the safe mode account has a password.

Then smack that kid and make him learn what Respect for parents is.

Alrite guys, update:

Thanks for all your help. I strongly suggested (as is the consensus here) to reformat, but the rents refused, not wanting to reinstall his stuff again. :disgust: Anyway, I went into the router, and blocked port 3724 (the blizzard port) for all IP addresses. That should do it I assume?

I also used crispyfiends safe mode trick and put his rents back as system admins.

Parenting really does suck in this country.

Boot into safe mode. You should be able to make a new user account and give it admin rights. Then boot back up and uninstall that game. Then spank the kid and buy the parents someback bone.

1. yank out the video card so he has to play with the on board stuff.
2. call up blizzard to immediately stop service and get a refund of time not used.

3 is probably the most practical way. If 3 fails, try 1 & 2.

couldn't they call up blizz and request to have the password on the account changed? if they have the cd key and are listed as the ones paying the bill, I don't see why it would be an issue.

Edit: Apparently the kid is 15, not 12. I didn't know.

2 wont work. They paid for the six month package and thats what they got. They have cancled the service but the 6 months are paid for and you cant get any money back. I accidently did this once (wanted to pay for one month) but ended up payinf ro six. They told me I was SOL.

my mom tells me im addicted every day. o well. i have a 9-5 job for the summer, full time, and what am i gonna do during the week? all my friends work full time, and itsonly like 5-6 h ours a day, not 12.

its hard to stop playing WoW. unless girls come along, ive stopped for them easily.
