Is there anyway to do this? I mean without connecting the cabinet wires to the reset, switch, hdd led etc....Is there any wire trick? Like short circuiting two pins?

Looking forward to your replies

I have never tried it, but the power button prolly just connects a circuit so try arcing the pins, that the power button connects to, together and see what happens. What harm can it do?

Yes, that will work. Take a regular screwdriver, and with the power supply attached to the mobo, quickly short together the two header pins where the POWER switch connects to the mobo. Be sure you touch only those pins.

You can also use a pair of long nose pliers to jump the pins - less like to slip where they don't belong than a screw driver.
Or use one of those spare jumpers you have lying around. A momentary contact across the power on pins is all that's needed.

you can buy a power switch too, i think i saw one on directron. i keep one in my toolkit now, easy to just slip on and hit the power if i'm working on a board outside the case. better long term solution i'd think.
