How do I play Anarchy Online?

So I guess I've been out of the loop and didn't know that AO has been free for all this time. I just got it yesterday and started a character but I don't get how I get weapons to start killing little monsters and getting XP. I started some nano dude at first and he had a pistol which actually could kill things. Then I started a martial artist since they are suppose to be easy but I have no weapons and the littlest of things takes me down. I think I'm at the Training Grounds or whatever too. Does anyone have a real quick guide to getting started so I can actually do something?

And if anyone has any comments on Runescape or Knight Online, please post them. Basically finals are done in a couple of days and I'll need something to do. 🙂

knight online is slightly better game than ao and better grphics. etter quests and gameplay and music. but bothe are pertty good. runscape sucks

WTF? I got Knight Online and tried to play but it said "insufficient points. please top up." and I looked in their forum at someone's thread with the same problem and people there said you have to pay.
 
Yeah Knight Online isn't free except for a 14-day trial.

But in AO, I'm up to level 4 or 5, but I still get beat down. All of the weapons are so expensive and it takes forever killing little lizards and whatnot. I can't ever find anything good, and the Subway is too hard for me still. Is this normal?
 
Well I think Knight Online is much better than Anarchy Online. I'm already further in KO and am working on quests even though I was just playing for a couple of hours. I didn't get really wtf to do in AO. KO seems more Diablo-esqe for combat and stuff... its pretty sweet actually! I'll probably get rid of AO pretty quick here...
 
It's been a while since i last played AO.What i remember is it is very hard to start out on your own.My advise is o make friends and seek help from players ingame.They can basically help you level up and give you items that they no longer use(credits too).Team up with characters within your level range and run an "XP Train"(mission after mission).I find that going on missions is a fast way to get both credits and XP.Another way of levelling up fast is hunting,like the "Virus Builder Camp" for level 20ish - 30ish.A team with a Doc,Mezzer and a few damage dealers should do the trick. Nano-Technicians are bit on the difficult side as a starter character,try an Enforcer or Soldier .

Don't even bother with AO. I've played it off and on for about 5 years now and it's only gotten worse each time. It's basically one huge level grind. As you level up you just have to find other places to grind. Usually everyone else is in those same spots too. The economics are totally jacked up. The prices for things are incredibly inflated.

Nothing really to do in AO but grind for 220 levels.

I agree I've been playing KO for the last 2 weeks. Its enjoyable so far if you can get past the constant server fixes and disconnections lol
