how do i overclock?

i got a biostar tpower x79 + i7 3820 combo. I can't find the FSB option to manipulate. So i'm lost. There' something called the based clock, which gives me 100mhz, 125mhz...etc. When i try to select 125mhz, computer fails, even though i've up the cpu and ram voltage.

the multiplier seems to be locked at 12x. even though i changed it in the bios, CPU-Z continues to report it at 12x.

So basically, what happened to the FSB option in modern motherboards?

nevermind. turns out that cpu-z is wrong. the multiplier cap is 43x. this memory divider thing is new to me, but i'm getting the hang of it.

3820 is locked so you can't overclock like old days. Did you get the 125mhz strap working?

yeah. there's something weird going on with the ram. i had to lower the multiplier on it.

Um... I think you should sell the chip on Bay and get the 30k
