How do i open flac files?

Many software products will play and/or encode FLAC. Personally, I use dBPowerAMP. Try a few products to learn which most meets your needs!

why isn't there some sort of directshow audio wrapper style thing for audio codecs like there are for video? I can play any damn video in WMP using ffdshow, but playing audio files totally depends on the player and it's compatibilities....annoying.

no doubt. I actually quite like wmp10, except for a few limitations such as exactly this. I'd love to be able to see ogg, flac, monkey's audio, etc...usable in the media library. The only thing I use WMA for right now is the lossless mode.

I got tired of Winamp, and I like having an all in one a/v media player, which is why I don't use foobar....besides, learning foobar feels like learning linux all over again. Quite the complicated program, IMO.
