New location is actually J:\music so I can't do that.Originally posted by: Goosemaster
1. map the drive with the same letter name (yand you should be set.
The key when restoring is to have backed-up the my itunes folder withing my documents > my Music> and to kkeep any external music sources the same, such as in this case.

I know what you're saying. I'm saying my old path to my music was Y:\ (that drive was dedicated to all music). The new path is J:\MUSIC (external HD that will store more than music).Originally posted by: GoosemasterDude..just change the drive letter
right click on my computer > manage> disk management> right click onthe drive and click drive assignments or wahtever it says.
<key>Location</key><string>Y:\
<key>Location</key><string>J:\Music

Open "iTunes Music Library.xml" in an editor, search for
<key>Location</key><string>Y:\
and automatically replace it with
<key>Location</key><string>J:\Music
I think that should work?
