How do I manage hard drive after installing SSD?

I took advantage of last week's $150 Newegg deal on a Samsung 840 250G SSD. Rather than migrate my hard drive to the SSD, I did a clean install of Win 8 Pro on the SSD. The SSD works great, but I have a few problems.

1. When the computer boots, it asks me which WIN 8 installation I want, the SSD or the hard drive. If I go with the SSD, it boots very fast AFTER it goes through a restart, then it asks me if I want to run the Samsung Magician software and stays at that screen until I answer, at which time it boots the desktop using Start 8.

I'd like to not have the Samsung Magician question pop up every time

2. I can't seem to access any data i.e turbo tax files, that are on the hard drive. The only way I can get them off the hard drive is to boot to the old drive when Win 8 asks me, but that totally defeats the purpose of the SSD.

I'd like to use the HD only for data storage, music, photos, etc.

Thanks

Hmm did you happen to disconnect the HD when you installed Win 8 on the SSD?

I think there can be issues if you install Win 8 on the SSD while the HDD is connected. Since you just did the install, maybe it's a good option to just start over, disconnect the HDD and do a fresh installation of Win 8 on the SSD. Then after the installation is done, you can connect the HDD again.

Also there could be a setting in your BIOS to choose which drive is #1.

Get what you need copied off the HDD and then boot into the SSD and format the HDD from there.
That should fix it, and also set the bios to boot to the SSD by default.
