Epoman, speaking from experience : we all find that our own designs are better than others. Personally I've denied criticism from outside sources over layouts I've created...

Really? Wow, I am SO the opposite. I've not once regarded any of my designs (web, print, whatever) as worthy, despite often being told that I am certainly adept. I've literally never (in my ten short years of "real" jobs) had a dissatisfied client/boss/etc., but I always shy away from showing others my work.

Maybe I should grow some, eh?

Sorry, I phrased that badly. Beginners are more proud of their work.

Frames might have been OK in the 90's, when lots of folks were browsing at 640x480 and maybe 800x600.

But they suck now.

Unless you're displaying tabular data, in which case tables are acceptable.

Conceded.
Now go to bed, ya stinkin bastard! 😛

I'm not trying to be mean. It's constructive criticism which you decide to blindly disregard. I'm sorry you're so close-minded that you're unwilling to accept free work from someone who doesn't even know you. You come here asking for help, we give you a more viable solution and you decide to throw it away, why ask at all?

If you're hellbent on your layout, then atleast tell me if that part of the page has it's own table, row or collumn.

but that's my whole point I did not ask for another/more viable solution (which in your guys opinion was to start the site ALL OVER), I just had a simple question about plain ol html. Don't worry about the question I finally fiqured it out.

I'm not going out of my way to be mean. I'm being honest. I know it sounds mean, but that's cause, honestly - your site looks crappy. You're right, you came to the forum with an HTML question. A whole bunch of people gave you HTML advice. You got the same advice from at least a half a dozen people. You flat out ignored them all.

I'm not trying to "show others how superior I am". I put a lot of effort into helping you. I wrote a post about all the reasons frames are a bad idea. I designed a whole CSS based layout for you, which I spent over an hour on. You didn't even say "oh, hey, I looked at the code and I can see how you got the right side of the page to be white" or "I don't really like the layout, but there are some interesting ideas there". You gleaned *absolutely nothing* from the work I did, not because you couldn't, but because you didn't even try to. Did you even look at my code? I doubt it. You ignored everything everyone said in that thread.

If you don't want opinions on your work, don't put your work on the internet. And "at least I can make a site" doesn't count for much in a day and age where you can make a website with drag and drop in google pages.

What you're doing is akin to going to a contractor and asking him how to fix a leak in your roof. Then when the contractor goes to look at your house, he sees that it's a tarpaper shack that's falling over. When he says "Hey, that place isn't safe, it needs to be condemned!" you reply with "That was very hurtful. I built it myself, all I wanted was some help with the roof. You're mean."

I did look at the source because none of the links worked. Your right I gleaned nothing from your design, I thought it looked crappy, to use your words. You want more than a thank you? I did thank you remember, or do you want me to kiss your ass and bow. If you remember I never asked for you to design a new site, that was you volunteering. So because I simply did not like your work and induct you to the Good Samaritan club you want to go on and on how bad my site is. Well honestly your opinion and the other "code masters" on this site is just that your opinions. So go on, keep it up. Reply yet again belittling my site.

My site is a simple site that I use to help people dying of kidney failure and it is run by me and I cannot afford a webmaster nor do I have the ability to be elite like you and create sites that will adored by the masses. I do the best I can for my 175 members.

How about helping me try to learn instead of telling me how much I suck, what is the best way for me to learn to use CSS.

notfred was being a little harsh, but nothing that he said was false. Epoman, it seems like all your threads go like this:

1. Epoman asks for help.
2. Forum reponds with an answer Epoman doesn't like.
3. Epoman goes emo 🙂wine::wine::wine: ).

Personally, I stopped caring after this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=33&threadid=1862852&enterthread=y

You stopped caring yet you still post in one of my threads.

Learning is done best when messing with anothers' works. If you had fiddled with NotFred's code, you would have grasped the basics of CSS. He was offering you free knowledge and you decided to complain about it.

Man you and him are just set in your ways. NON-STOP talking down too. Again I asked a GOD-DAMN question and instead of answering it you just spout out bile.

I posted in your (almost put "worthless" here, but I'll leave that out) thread to support the other people who actually help others on this forum.

Ok, I wanted you to be helped. But you tell me exactly where LoKe was talking down to you? You seem very angry. No need to be an asshole to everyone for telling you the TRUTH.

This doesn't have anything to do with your question but...

On your forums, your kidney gif on each section, why don't you make that a transparent png or gif? It looks terrible in that white square.

Ok, so everyone was right, I am sorry. I was teh sUx. 😀

I looked at my site on a 15" 800X600 monitor and it was scroll hell. It shocked me. In my defense It looks all right to me on my 20" 1600X1200 monitor. I didn't relize there was that much scrolling evolved.

So I got Dreamweaver 8, and I borrowed from a friend Total Training Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 and I am learning alot. I redid my entire site. it will still have the same things just no frames and no scrolling text, and some other changes. I apolgise for my earlier comments.

NO scrolling text, NO bigger than 760px wide (for 800x600 monitors), it's a start. 🙂

But I think it now looks better, so I listened to you guys and I hope you at least think it's a little better, remember I want this site to look like it was made "By a patient for patients".

So here's the links:

The OLD site 🙁

The New IMPROVED site :Q

Comments?

And YES I already sent "notfred" a PM saying how right he was, and how wrong I was. And I apologized.

Much easier on the eyes. However, if you plan on making more improvements; I suggest you try to remove all your tables, it'll shorten your code.

Yeah like I was telling notfred, I just used tables for now until I learn CSS for style and layout, my members are waiting for the site, so I just wanted to get it redone the fasted way I knew, and that tutorial I watched made tables look easy.

I really like layers.
